Weekly Announcements - Week of 3/21/2022
Tiger Band Family,
Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a restful and relaxing spring break.
First off, a HUGE congratulations to our winter guard for placing second in their class at their championships yesterday! This is an incredible and historic accomplishment for our guard and we could not be more proud of them.
Second, we have a new band website! www.sphsband.org has been completely overhauled, and I encourage you to all take a look at the information it has to offer. It's our intention to have this be your one-stop shop for information, announcements, the calendar, etc. A few points of interest:
The calendar, easily syncable to your devices
The carpool interest form, where you can sign up to carpool students, therefore minimizing the number of trips parents need to make to/from school. (Many hands make light work!)
The carpool submissions page, where you can see other families who are interested/available to carpool. The page is password protected so your personal information is still secure.
The private lesson online enrollment form, where you can easily enroll for lessons electronically and also indicate if you need any assistance (which is available!). Everything is documented electronically and should help us streamline our information between the campus, the lesson teacher, and yourselves.
Finally, with Pre-UIL a week from Tuesday, we are opting to cancel sectionals for full band rehearsals. I can only apologize for the late notice - it dawned on me as I was looking at the calendar.
With students scattered throughout the periods, these are our only opportunities to plug in students before we perform at Pre-UIL. After Pre-UIL, we'll likely shift to a week of sectionals, then back into full ensemble rehearsals (with more lead time to plan rides) to prepare for our final performances at UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation.
If you have an unavoidable conflict for this week's rehearsals, please let me know. I hope the carpool form, combined with more lead time for the next full band rehearsals, can help us alleviate most conflicts.
As always, thank you for your support! We're in the final stretch of UIL prep!
Go Tigers!
