Stony Point HS Band: Summer Check-in #4
Tiger Band and Sapphire Guard Family,We can't wait to see everyone in 12 days! We just wrapped up leadership camp and are excited to carry this momentum into summer band on July 25.
Based on the poll results, we are changing our Summer Band start time to 7 AM. This is going to be the safest option for the amount of physical activity we're doing outside. Our end time will still be 4 PM - this does add an hour to the overall day.
Like I mentioned in the BAND app, I made an error when I initially calculated the day (omitting an indoor movement block). I appreciate everyone's flexibility and understanding with our changing schedule.
With an earlier day, this is a FANTASTIC opportunity to take advantage of our Band Carpool! You can see submissions on the Carpool Submissions page.
What does my child need to bring to summer band?
Music and instrument (both their black binder with sheet protectors and their flip folder)
Sunscreen
Lunch (no students are allowed off-campus to eat for summer band)
Athletic clothing
Athletic shoes (no Converse, Vans, flip-flops, etc.)
Hat (optional but recommended)
Sunglasses (optional but recommended)
Fanny pack (optional but recommended)
Why are students not allowed off-campus for lunch?
Two reasons, both equally important: student safety and team-building. We will never have as much time together as we have during summer band. Eating together, getting to know everyone in our organization, building relationships, etc., will only strengthen us as a group moving forward.
Are you a social media maven? We need you!
We would LOVE to increase our presence on social media, in both quality and quantity. We have parent and student historians (taking pictures and documenting our program), but if anyone has experience and interest in creating content for social media, please reach out!
Do you have your CDL or any interest in getting your CDL?
We have a big, beautiful trailer that we would love to utilize for football games and contests. Not only is it more space-efficient for us, it reduces the need for multiple box truck rentals, and is just plain cool seeing our branding in the parking lot with other programs.
If you have your CDL and would be interested in driving for the band at football games and contests, please let me know! If you don't have your CDL but are interested, please reach out and we'll see how we can help facilitate that process.
Physicals - we need them!
I know, I'm a broken record. Please continue to send in your completed physical forms. We need them before students are here for summer band!
Everyone, we are SO excited for our program this year and cannot wait to share that with the community. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. It's going to be a great year!
